Project Manager – AF Preedcrete

AF Preedcrete, part of the AF Switchgear Group, has over 30 years’ of experience in the busbar industry in partnership with two of the leading manufacturers of IP55 & IP68 Busbar Systems.  We offer a complete busbar solution, including design, manufacture, installation and testing.

Due to continuing growth, we are now looking to recruit for the newly created position of Project Manager.  Reporting directly to the Operations Director, the successful applicant will have an active role in reviewing and developing the company’s delivery processes.

Working closely with colleagues across the AF Group, as well as supply and installation partners, coordination and management of the process from handover to site delivery and completion of the project will all be key to this exciting new role.  Time will be split between the site and the office as required.

Reviewing, accepting, querying and preparation of Variation Orders as well as maintaining records of these, good communication skills, a keen eye for detail and the drive and determination to make this role your own, will also be a key requirement of this role.

Senior Quantity Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor

Due to the continued expansion of the business, we are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor to mitigate/minimise risk to the company and maximise profits through effective contract negotiation and management.

Reporting to the Contracts Director, responsibilities will include but are not exclusive to:

  • Negotiation and administration of sub-contracts and sub-sub-contracts, including issue of required Notices under the contracts
  • Attending pre-contract meetings
  • Preparation and valuation of interim applications and final accounts
  • Identification and notification of variations
  • Preparation of payments for sub-sub-contractors
  • Negotiation and resolution of contractual disputes
  • Cash flow forecasting
  • Assessing and managing credit risks
  • Monthly WIP reports for accounts specifying and making provisions for any known/ potential risks

A BSc (Hons 2.1) in Quantity Surveying (or similar) and previous experience of working in the Electrical sector would be desirable, but not essential.

Sales Estimating Engineer

We are looking for a Sales Estimating Engineer to join our expanding Sales Team.  Reporting to the Sales Director, the successful applicant will be estimating and tendering enquiries and securing new orders.  

Duties will include, but are not restricted to:

  • Responsibility for complying with the Q&E management system within their level of activity.
  • Evaluation and preparation of sales tenders in conjunction with other members of the sales team, internal and external
  • Liaison with potential new customers at the enquiry stage
  • Compliance with the company’s engineering standards and procedures when preparing Estimates and tenders for the company’s products.
  • Liaison with customers at the order stage to ensure compliance with the company’s credit control procedures.
  • Preparation of contract folders ready for handover to engineering and attend handover meetings.
  • Continue liaison with customers at the post enquiry stage and post-order stage as necessary to maintain continuity and goodwill.
  • Close liaison with the Engineering department to ensure conformity with the agreed build specification for our products and any works to be undertaken on site.
  • Liaise with the engineering team providing support as required regarding any cost variations to the contracts.
  • Assessment of new supply products and techniques in conjunction with other sales and engineering staff
  • Attend meetings as required and requested either internally or at customer offices or sites.
  • If skilled in CAD and as workload demands assist with the Creation of Sales General Arrangement Layout drawings and single line Power schematics using AutoCAD working from sketches produced by yourself or other members of the Sales team.

Applications Engineer

Due to continued expansion of the business, our dynamic and enterprising Engineering team are looking to recruit Applications Engineers, to work on the preparation of detailed designs and specific contract works instructions documentation.  

Our Applications Engineers are involved throughout the build process.  Complying with the agreed build specification and Company design criteria, they prepare detailed designs and specific contract works instructions documentation.  They work closely with the Operations Manager to provide efficient and safe application of labour resources in order to achieve production targets and delivery dates.  

Along the way, you will be expected to discuss technical issues with our customers, put together purchasing requirements for ordering via our Central Services Department, and compile the necessary data to enable accurate invoicing.

Electrical Fitter

We are looking for Electrical Fitters to join our expanding Production Team.  The successful candidates will be assembling electrical control panels/switchgear accurately and effectively in line with our company standards.  This will include carrying out duties to facilitate the assembly, copperwork, wiring, testing, stripping, plating, packing, loading to transport and site erection of the Company’s wide product range. 

Candidates will be required to evidence:

  • Previous experience in Switchgear panel building
  • Apprentice or time served in an electrical discipline, such as installations or panel wiring or an electrical qualification
  • Being familiar with mechanical assembly of devices and copper busbar systems
  • Knowledge of panel assembly/fabrication techniques

The ability to be flexible to the demands of workload, as well as being able to work as part of a team, and a full driving licence, are key requirements for this position.

Hours: 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Friday

Electrical Fitter – Site Services

Following expansion of our products and services AF Switchgear are currently looking to recruit Electrical Fitters – Site Services Department.  

Your working hours will be 37.5 hours per week.  This is anticipated to be worked as an average of 5 days in a 7 day period.  Overtime paid on a daily basis in accordance with the agreements currently in force.  

As far as is reasonably practicable and where required, you will be available to work outside of the basic hours and be available to lodge away from home overnight.

Flexibility to start early and finish early / start late and finish late or work weekends for time off in the week will be required.

Being available to work weekends as part of a normal working week with the options of time off in lieu during the following week or paid overtime will be required.

The role will require: 

  • Installation, service and maintenance of all aspects of switchgear and control panels on site
  • Provide close customer liaison during the completion of works, working to specifications and company quality standards as delegated by Site Service Engineer (SSE)
  • Carrying out switchboard modifications and maintenance generally as part of a team and occasionally on your own
  • Assisting the team to correctly interpret drawings
  • Issue after service reports to SSE/Client where required
  • Occasional working within our production facility

The successful candidate will need to have good communication skills, be prepared to spend periods of time away from, be able to work to deadlines and have a flexible approach to overtime.

A full driving licence is essential for this position.

We are looking for reliable Assembly Fitters to join our expanding Production Team.  The successful candidates will be required to carry out:

  • Assembly of electrical switch devices, copper busbar system & current transformers in prefabricated cabinets
  • Follow company engineering standards
  • Carry out duties defined by the Team Leaders

The ability to use your initiative and be flexible to the demands of workload, as well as being able to work as part of a team, are key requirements for this position.

Project Estimator – AF Preedcrete

AF Preedcrete, part of the AF Switchgear Group, has over 30 years’ of experience in the busbar industry. In partnership with two of the leading manufacturers of IP55 & IP68 Busbar Systems, we are able to offer a complete solution for all your busbar requirements, including design, manufacture, installation and testing.

AF Preedcrete are looking to bring elements of the business to the AF Group Head Office in Sutton-in-Ashfield, the aim being to forge links and ties within the AF Group to give solid foundations on which the business can continue to grow.

We are therefore looking for a Project Estimator to work out of the AF Group Head Office, under the lead of the Technical Sales Director who is based off site.

JOB ROLE 

  • Preparation of quotations, based on Technical Specifications and the ability to interpret and complete take-offs from engineering drawings
  • Transferring information onto Estimate
  • Liaising with customers and the AF Switchgear Sales team
  • Maintaining up-to-date records

Good communication skills and attention to detail are key to this role.

Full product training will be given to the successful candidate.
