We are looking for a Commissioning Engineer.

Reporting to the Head of Commissioning, the role will include, but is not exclusive to:

Carry out commissioning, SAT and IST as required
Carry out on site training
Visit sites to carry out site / switchgear surveys.
To be on call to attend site as part of the emergency call out agreements.
Provide technical support both on site and in the works
Allocate tasks to operatives
Remain on the job in a productive or supporting role.
Give guidance and support the team
Assist the team to correctly interpret drawings.
Inform the Engineering office of any urgently required parts, critical shortages and any concerns regarding parts/build/people/equipment.
Monitor and maintain cleanliness/tidiness in and around your working area.
Provide technical support, testing and training for all aspects of switchgear and control panels.
Responsible for complying with and implementing the Q&E management system within their area of activity.

Commissioning Manager

We are looking for a Commissioning Manager.

Reporting to the Head of Commissioning the role will include, but is not exclusive to:

Lead and manage data centre type projects (travel required for the role ~ to be discussed at interview).
Lead and manage the commissioning process. Supervision of on-site maintenance projects
Commissioning of Switchgear without compromising quality, health, safety or the environment.
Efficiently manage projects to maximise the profits of the Company.
Supervision of sub-contractors to ensure their tasks are approve and controlled as required.
Review and manage sub-contractor works making sure they are working in line with company requirements.
Monitor changes to identify and tackle new risk management challenges.
Eliminate defects, unsafe acts/conditions and pollution by targeting “Zero Harm”.
Conforming to, and always complying to reasonable directions and regulations of the Company.
Management of all day to day on site commissioning operations.
Be aware of the quality, health, safety and environmental (QHSE) matters related to the works in hand and communicate and promote QHSE compliance requirements.
Carry out toolbox talks and task briefings as required.
Reporting commissioning progress on all activities both internally and externally.
Report any delays or issues that may arise from the commissioning process.
Attending commissioning meetings and reporting on progress.
Complete RAMS and ensure they’re communicated, understood, acknowledged and followed.
Ensure Permit to Work systems are implemented effectively and correctly.
Responsible for compiling testing and commissioning documentation including verifying and signing off all results.
Monitor the correct completion of site activities.
Ensure the safety and welfare of site operatives and other people who may be affected by the works in hand.
Ensure PPE is use correctly and is in good condition.
Ensure work equipment is used correctly and is in good working order. Report near misses and accidents.
Reduce avoidable site revisits.
Help improve operatives knowledge and training.
Highlight and report areas of concern.
Liaising with clients.
Work at AFS headquarters in Sutton-in-Ashfield as and when required.

You will be required to undertake and supervise all aspects of work related to commissioning works undertaken by the Company in accordance with the Company’s documented safe system of work, including also:

Completing records and certificates for handover to clients.
Carrying out witness testing and provide associated documentation as required.
Providing progress reports as necessary as to project status.
To efficiently supervise and control site works i hand to maximise the profits of the Company without compromising quality, health, safety and environmental requirements.
To report directly to the Head of Commissioning.
At all times, ad in all respects, comply with the proper and reasonable directions of the Company.
Request customer feedback.
Ensure weekly reports are sent to management

Hours:

07:00 – 17:00 on site Monday to Friday with some weekends as required. Hours as required to complete the work.

Essential qualifications:

NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Discipline. SSSTS.
Experience in LV Switchgear.

Full UK Driving Licence Valid Passport

Purpose of the Position:

This apprenticeship is in conjunction with West Notts College leading to a qualification in Electrical Panel Building.

This is a 4-year apprenticeship leading to Engineering Fitter Level 3 –Electrical Pathway, including: Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not exclusive to:

Learn how to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Be trained on how to assemble a range of control panels.
Learn how to inspect and test components.

Electrical Design Engineer

AF Switchgear are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to take 100% ownership of
Electrical CAD, providing services to Engineering by ensuring efficient and effective
implementation and deployment of the Electrical CAD package as well as all previous drawings on AutoCAD, and delivering opportunities for continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will need to have excellent attention to detail skills and be experienced in Electrical CAD operating, in order to effectively manage the Electrical CAD aspect of contracts on behalf of the Engineering Team and ensure that there is a seamless harmony between design and drawing content. A good knowledge of electrical schematics and the ability to manage contract deadlines are key to this role.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities include, but are not exclusive to:

• Manage, control and ‘own’ the CAD aspect of given contracts.
• Produce and maintain standard master drawings both SSE Electrical CAD and
AutoCad.
• Work efficiently to manage the CAD aspect of projects for all the Engineering
Department.
• Give technical support to the Applications Engineers and clients where applicable.
• Work on behalf of the Engineer to efficiently produce all schematics on time.
• Ensure all General Arrangements (GA) are to the standard CAD library and the
ongoing development of the GA standards inclusive of development of dynamic blocks.
• Liaise with sales, fabrication and copper cell departments for development of standard
CAD GA drawings.
• Prepare and communicate weekly work schedules for effective workload management.
• Report to Senior Management team regarding workload.
• Reviewing technical documentation of contract systems to understand their functions.
• Prepare CAD drawings with efficient use of hardware to keep costs to a minimum.
• Support collaborative cross-team communication.
• Develop a library of documentation for standardisation of documentation.
• Recommend viable solutions to reduce costs as well as improve processes and
product quality.
• Develop the new software and implementation of all the additional applications to assist other departments when required.

We are looking for a After Paint Assemblers to join the fabrication production team on the day shift and night shift. Reporting to the Works Supervisor and Lead Operative.

COPPER DESIGN ENGINEER / RADAN PROGRAMMER

We are looking for a Copper Design Engineer / Radan Programmer to join the Copper Cell Team.

Reporting to the Operations Manager the successful candidate will be responsible or creating drawing files and CNC programmes for the manufacture of all copperwork.

Responsibilities include but are not exclusive to:

Creation of copperwork drawings using 2D / 3D based on fabrication model supplied by AF Fabrications.
Preparation of copperwork drawings based on the fabrication design, supplied by AF Fabrications and the engineering standards and prepare CNC programmes using the Radan interface in a timely manner.
Developing a system based on 3D drawing to enable the fast transfer of information into a CNC programme.
Development of a database / library of standard products based on standard fabrication principals.
Work in a timely manner to achieve production start and target dates.
Radan previously prepared copper layouts
Creation of copperwork drawings using 2D/3D based on fabrication models supplied by AF Fabrications.
Design of copper work and creation of CNC machine programmes for the supply of all copperwork to the assembly areas.

Engineering Assistant X2

We are currently looking to recruit the following 2 x ENGINEERING ASSISTANT AF Switchgear are looking for 2 x Engineering Assistant to provide support for the Engineering team. Responsible to the Engineering Director, responsibilities include but are not exclusive to:

Creation of label drawings using AutoCAD
Compiling internal label lists and sending to CSD in readiness for the shopfloor.
Place orders as directed onto Efacs system.
Production of O&M manuals
Typing of Documents
Filing/archiving of Engineering paperwork, contracts, drawings etc.
Entering parts onto Efacs.
Maintain/ update parts database for Master parts List.
Assist Engineering in the supply of contract/ site / work files.
Scanning documents.
Assist Engineers dependent on work level and holiday periods.
Carry out general clerical and other duties as delegated by Engineering Director
Attend meetings as required/requested.
In liaison with Engineers carry out cross checking of Purchase orders and Identifying errors which exceed line values.
Responsibility for complying with and implementing the Q&E management system within their area of activity.
