Assistant Design Manager – CMS

Purpose of the Job

AF Switchgear are looking for an Assistant Design Manager to further support and develop the expanding CMS Department

Duties & Responsibilities

• Support the Design Manager in meetings, both in house and at client sites. Provide technical support for sales team members for achievable theoretical designs of new projects for quotation purposes. Assist engineering in the design and selection of products, for technical communicating solutions
• Ensure the utilisation, productivity, and efficiency of the resource available
• Ensure work carried out complies with contract programmes
• Designs to specification and quality standards within allocated timeframes
• Site commissioning and IST Testing as required
• Ensure the health & safety and good housekeeping of the working environment
• Ensure all required personnel work safely
• Monitor the procurement of al materials to ensure the company secures the best possible prices for major materials
• Respond to any concerns regarding engineering, parts, and people; both in the department and on site as appropriate
• Attend regular review meetings with the Design Manager to plan work priorities
• Attend other meetings and training a scheduled, required or requested as may arise. Meetings, design and programming works may be office based or elsewhere and will require spending periods of time away from home

Works Fabricator (Day Shift and Second Shift)

Purpose of the Job

Responsible to the Works Supervisor and Lead Operative this role involves the fabrication assembly, including welding, sanding, and ensuring a quality product to the standard manufacture tolerances.

Duties & Responsibilities

To adhere to the Job Pack information, including signing Job Pack forms.

• To refer to and follow the Company Personnel Instructions where appropriate.

• To remain on the job in a productive role.

• To assist the Works Supervisor and Lead Operative and mentors.

• To listen to the mentors and develop skills.

• To inform Works Supervisor, Lead Operative and mentors of any urgently required equipment.

• To inform Works Supervisor, Lead Operative and mentors of any concerns

• regarding parts/build/people/equipment.

• To effectively maintain the tidiness, safety and cleanliness of the work areas.

• As required sign for the receipt of delivered goods, deliver goods to the required area, forward any signed paperwork to the Works Supervisor

• Working closely with the Manufacturing Team, Works Supervisor, Lead Operatives, mentors other Works Operatives and in addition the Applications Engineers, Contracts Engineer and Engineering Director at all times.

• Attend meetings as required/requested.

• Comply with the requirements BS EN ISO 9001 quality system.

Hours of Work

Days – Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 16:30, Friday 08:00 to 16:00

Nights – Monday – Thursday 16:00 – 02:00

Full Time / Permanent

Responsible to the Works Supervisor and Lead Operative, this role involves the preparation and powder coating of fabrication assemblies and parts, ensuring a quality product to the standard tolerances.

Purchase Invoice Processor

Purpose of the Job

Process invoices and credits onto the EFACS system ensuring the correct account, price, and quality.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Match delivery notes to invoices.
  • Match credit notes to non-conformance or returns notes.
  • Process and match purchase invoices and credits onto the EFACS system ensuring nominal coding is correct.
  • Ensure copies of CAPEX, disposal and pre-payment invoices are sent to the Finance Controller.
  • Working with the ledger clerks and order originators resolve any queries re purchase invoices.
  • Assist the CSD to process all received purchase invoices/credits by 15th of following month where possible.
  • To maintain a first-class level of customer service ensuring that all customers are treated efficiently and in an appropriate manner.
  • CSD KPIs.
  • Attend meetings as required/requested.
  • Responsibility for complying with and implementing the Q&E management system within their area of activity.

HR Assistant

Purpose of the Job

To support the HR Team with all HR related administration and supporting of all HR processes.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Produce operative offer letters and employment contracts for new starters.
  • Coordinate new joiner arrangements with agencies, HR, IT and Reception.
  • On-boarding new operative employees to AF Group including managing the right to work checks, delivering inductions, processing new starter paperwork and off-boarding as and when required.
  • Completing reference checks for all new employees.
  • Updating trackers including new starters, recruitment and absence management.
  • Ensuring all return-to-work forms are completed and uploaded to the relevant employee file.
  • To administer people changes including promotions, transfers, pay changes, job titles.
  • To support payroll administration, including checking of new starters / changes on Sage Payroll.
  • To provide payroll operative cover as and when required.
  • To assist the HR Manager with ad-hoc projects.
  • To ensure personnel files are kept up to date (Sage, SOTER Web, Electronic and manual).
  • To sift candidates and arrange interviews for AF Group employees (including any staff subcontractors).
  • To act as point of contact for agencies as and when required
  • To issue new ID cards and maintain locker database
  • To maintain confidentiality on all HR matters
  • To assist with both external and internal training administration as and when required.
  • Monthly update of safe in reception with emergency contact details for all employees across the AF Group.
  • To carry out any other HR admin/support within the post-holders capability
  • Actively promote team working and the successful operation, maintenance / creating of applicable procedures, standards and work instructions.
  • Responsibility for complying with and implementing the Q&E management system within their area of activity.

Copper Design Engineer

Purpose of the Job

To create drawing files and CNC programmes for the manufacture of all copperwork

Duties & Responsibilities

• To prepare copperwork drawings based on the fabrication design, supplied by AF Fabrications and the engineering standards.            Prepare CNC programmes using the RADAN interface.  It is important for the timely creation of such drawings to allow for just            in time copperwork for the assembly areas.

• To develop a database / library of standard products based on standard fabrication principals.

• To work in a timely manner to achieve production start and target dates.

• Responsible for complying with and implementing the Q&E management system within area of activity.

CNC Machinist – RADAN Programmer

Purpose of the Job

To supply pre formed coppers to the assembly lines and create RADAN programmes for the effective running of the Copper fabrication CNC machines

Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for setting, operating and maintaining the machines located in the copper fabrication cell and create compatible programmes from copperwork design drawing files to enable the fast transfer of information to the CNC machines.

• To work in a timely manner to achieve production start target dates.

• Ensuring the quality Control of all finished products is maintained.

• Reading of drawings and document control.

• Monitoring of scrap and identifying true causes.

• Monitor copper bar utilisation and reduction of scrap off-cuts.

• Radan previously prepared copper layouts.

• Developing a system based on 3D drawing to enable the fast transfer of information into a CNC program.

• Maintenance of machines in accordance with the maintenance schedule.

• Maintain housekeeping and 5S initiatives.

• Promote continuous improvement.

• Attend meetings as required / requested.

• Responsible for complying with and implementing the Q&E management system within area of activity.

• To train others in accordance with defined training plan.

•  Manage subcontract and all outsourcing works to meet production targets.

•  Ensuring the use of British and International Standards used by the company.

•  Act as Management Representative for the Quality MRQ.

•  Department representative for continual improvement and standardisation.

•  Stock control and verification of costings.

•  Industrial Relations, in conjunction with MD.

•  Deputy Health & Safety.

•  Responsibility for complying with and implementing the BS EN ISO 9001 quality assurance system within their area of activity.
