Purpose of the Position:

To work in conjunction with West Notts College to attain a qualification in Electrical Panel Building.

A 4-year apprenticeship leading to Engineering Fitter Level 3 –Electrical Pathway, including: Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering BTEC Diploma in advanced Manufacturing Engineering.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Learn how to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

• Be trained on how to assemble a range of control panels.

• Learn how to inspect and test components.

• Learn how to maintain control panels, machines and equipment.

• Learn about the wiring of panels and how to diagnose and rectify faults.

• Gain a good understanding of the sector and the products and services supplied by AF Switchgear.

• Attend college and produce work of a high standard.

Apprentice Metal Fabricator Level 3 Fabrication

Purpose of the Position:

To work in conjunction with West Notts College to attain a qualification in metal fabrication (development & knowledge)

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Structure, properties and characteristics of common metals.

• Looking at typical problems which may arise.

• Approved diagnostic methods.

Electrical Design Engineer

AF Switchgear are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to take 100% ownership of
Electrical CAD, providing services to Engineering by ensuring efficient and effective
implementation and deployment of the Electrical CAD package as well as all previous drawings on AutoCAD, and delivering opportunities for continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will need to have excellent attention to detail skills and be experienced in Electrical CAD operating, in order to effectively manage the Electrical CAD aspect of contracts on behalf of the Engineering Team and ensure that there is a seamless harmony between design and drawing content. A good knowledge of electrical schematics and the ability to manage contract deadlines are key to this role.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities include, but are not exclusive to:

• Manage, control and ‘own’ the CAD aspect of given contracts.
• Produce and maintain standard master drawings both SSE Electrical CAD and
AutoCad.
• Work efficiently to manage the CAD aspect of projects for all the Engineering
Department.
• Give technical support to the Applications Engineers and clients where applicable.
• Work on behalf of the Engineer to efficiently produce all schematics on time.
• Ensure all General Arrangements (GA) are to the standard CAD library and the
ongoing development of the GA standards inclusive of development of dynamic blocks.
• Liaise with sales, fabrication and copper cell departments for development of standard
CAD GA drawings.
• Prepare and communicate weekly work schedules for effective workload management.
• Report to Senior Management team regarding workload.
• Reviewing technical documentation of contract systems to understand their functions.
• Prepare CAD drawings with efficient use of hardware to keep costs to a minimum.
• Support collaborative cross-team communication.
• Develop a library of documentation for standardisation of documentation.
• Recommend viable solutions to reduce costs as well as improve processes and
product quality.
• Develop the new software and implementation of all the additional applications to assist other departments when required.

After Paint Assembler ~ Day Shift

Duties:

Due to expansion, we require a further After Paint Assembler to join the team.

Reporting to the Works Supervisor and Lead Operative, the successful applicant will be responsible for the assembly of painted parts prior to dispatch.

Good communication skills and attention to detail are key to this role.

General Operative ~ Day Shift

Duties:

Responsible to the Works Supervisor, providing additional support where required on the Punch, Laser, press brake, Painting / Preparation prior to paint and After paint assembly processes, keeping the manufacturing areas tidy and assist with moving goods between factories.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Always adhere to health and safety.
  • To remain on the job in a productive role.
  • To assist with lifting within the manufacturing area.

  • To give guidance and support to sub-contractors

Copper Design Engineer / Radan Programmer

COPPER DESIGN ENGINEER / RADAN PROGRAMMER

We are looking for a Copper Design Engineer / Radan Programmer to join the Copper Cell Team.

Reporting to the Operations Manager the successful candidate will be responsible or creating drawing files and CNC programmes for the manufacture of all copperwork.

Responsibilities include but are not exclusive to:

  • Creation of copperwork drawings using 2D / 3D based on fabrication model supplied by AF Fabrications.
  • Preparation of copperwork drawings based on the fabrication design, supplied by AF Fabrications and the engineering standards and prepare CNC programmes using the Radan interface in a timely manner.
  • Developing a system based on 3D drawing to enable the fast transfer of information into a CNC programme.
  • Development of a database / library of standard products based on standard fabrication principals.
  • Work in a timely manner to achieve production start and target dates.
  • Radan previously prepared copper layouts
  • Creation of copperwork drawings using 2D/3D based on fabrication models supplied by AF Fabrications.
  • Design of copper work and creation of CNC machine programmes for the supply of all copperwork to the assembly areas.

Engineering Assistant X2

We are currently looking to recruit the following 2 x ENGINEERING ASSISTANT  AF Switchgear are looking for 2 x Engineering Assistant to provide support for the Engineering team.  Responsible to the Engineering Director, responsibilities include but are not exclusive to:
  • Creation of label drawings using AutoCAD
  • Compiling internal label lists and sending to CSD in readiness for the shopfloor.
  • Place orders as directed onto Efacs system.
  • Production of O&M manuals
  • Typing of Documents
  • Filing/archiving of Engineering paperwork, contracts, drawings etc.
  • Entering parts onto Efacs.
  • Maintain/ update parts database for Master parts List.
  • Assist Engineering in the supply of contract/ site / work files.
  • Scanning documents.
  • Assist Engineers dependent on work level and holiday periods.
  • Carry out general clerical and other duties as delegated by Engineering Director
  • Attend meetings as required/requested.
  • In liaison with Engineers carry out cross checking of Purchase orders and Identifying errors which exceed line values.
  • Responsibility for complying with and implementing the Q&E management system within their area of activity.

  • Preparation and input of Operative weekly wages for all companies
  • Complete direct hours / late report
  • Collation of sub-contractors time sheets and sending to agencies for all companies
  • Update and keep staff absence records accurately
  • Setting up new starters on Sage Payroll and Sage HR and processing leaver documentation and final payments
  • Processing SSP, SMP, national insurance, income tax and other statutory deductions
  • Calculation of monthly overtime hours to CSDi

  • Assisting GFD/CSDi in accounts administration and ensuring deadlines are met
  • AOE payments / pension payments
  • Cash flow monthly forecast to CSDi
  • Credit card receipt breakdown / coding
  • Daily cash book posting
  • Purchase ledger administration
  • Assist with purchase ledger invoice queries
  • Carry out regular reconcilliations – supplier statements, direct hours, cash books, nominal etc
  • Supplier BACS payments
  • Collation of non-conformance records, updating supplier master records and marrying to credit notes where necessary
  • Updating and maintaining Efacs supplier parts database re current prices and discounts
  • Aged creditors and housekeeping

Commissioning Engineer

Purpose of the Job

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Commissioning Engineer to manage the onsite testing element and commissioning aspect of the contract from specification through to IST. The Commissioning Engineer’s responsibilities include a guarantee that the contract aligns to the set of technical specifications, ensuring that there is a seamless harmony between design intent and the operation efficiency, mitigating risks, writing out deviations and capturing variations. The successful candidate should be knowledgeable of Switchgear installations and various testing stages. They will also be able to manage agreed contract deadlines, and demonstrate excellent time management, organsational and problem-solving skills, to ensuring the smooth running of operations

Duties & Responsibilities

  •  Manage, control and ‘own’ the Commissioning aspect of given contracts ensuring compliance with agreed build   specification and Company design criteria.
  •  Give technical support to the Applications Engineer and clients where applicable.
  •  Review the technical documentation of contract systems to understand their functions.
  •  Prepare and communicate weekly work schedules for effective management to sub-contract partners and senior management team.
  • Communicate variations and deviations to take account of contract amendments, contract delays or failures and liaise revisions in an appropriate manner ensuring these are on time and in line with required contract dates.
  • Prepare detailed documentation for the various Testing stages.
  • Writing project commissioning plans that detail the project’s scope, task schedules and key documents
  • Support collaborative cross-team communication.
  •  Develop a library of standardised documentation.
  •  Mainly based within the Engineering Department at our site in Sutton-in-Ashfield, visits to different remote client sites to oversee the testing of equipment may be necessary/required
  • Review test results and prepare test reports to confirm compliance with technical specifications
  • Work with engineering and operating groups to schedule tests
  •  Use the technical labour efficiently from the planning stage to execution on site.
  •  Recommend viable solutions to reduce costs as well as improve processes and product quality.
