Purpose of the Position:

To work in conjunction with West Notts College (WNC) to attain a qualification in Customer Services, whilst providing all round support to the AF Group.

AF Group will support the right candidate in either a Level 2 or 3 apprenticeship / qualification with WNC.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To undertake day to day business support services to ensure the efficient running of the department.
  • Administrative tasks on in-house systems and databases
  • Daily maintenance, cleaning, re-stocking of kitchen areas
  • Handle internal mail delivery and collection, ensuring timely distribution of mail throughout the organisation. This includes multiple visits to all departments on a daily basis
  • Filing / archiving of accounting paperwork, quotes, contracts etc.
  • To cover front of house (reception) as and when required
  • Assist Engineering in the supply of contract / site / work files
  • Maintaining catering supplies in all departments
  • Maintaining stationery supplies in all Departments
  • Scanning documents
  • Assist Business Support Services dependent on work level and holiday periods
  • Create switchboard labels as required
  • Share telephone answering role with Receptionist and ensure that telephone is answered promptly
  • Assist as necessary re. provision of catering requirements (staff / visitors / meetings / buffets etc.)
  • Carry out general administration and other duties as delegated b y Central Services Manager / Central Services Director.
  • Attend meetings as required / requested

  • Achieve qualification milestones and attain required grade
  • Comply with BS EN ISO 9001 quality system
  • Actively promote team working and the successful operation, maintenance / creation of applicable procedures, standards and work instructions.

Hours of Work:

08:30 – 17:00 Monday to Thursday. 08:30 – 16:00 Friday.

Apprentice Business Support

Apprentice Accounts Assistant x1

Purpose of the Position:

To work in conjunction with West Notts College (WNC) to attain a qualification in accounting and finance, whilst providing all round support to the Finance Team for the AF Group.

AF Group will support the right candidate in either a Level 2 or 3 apprenticeship / qualification with WNC.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist GFD / Finance Manager in accounts administration ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Carry out regular reconciliations i.e. bank, nominal.
  • Filing / archiving of accounting paperwork.
  • Collation of non-conformance records, updating supplier master records and marrying credit notes where necessary.
  • Assisting in purchase ledger, sales ledger and nominal ledger duties.
  • Assist with any general office duties as requested by GFD / FM.
  • Attend meetings as required / requested.
  • Comply with BS EN ISO 9001 quality system.
  • Actively promote team working and the successful operation, maintenance / creation of applicable procedures, standards and work instructions.
  • Assist with the preparation of the Group accounts.
  • Responsibility for complying with and implementing the business management system within their area of activity.

Engineering Assistant

Purpose of the Position:

To work in conjunction with West Notts College to attain a qualification in Electrical Panel Building.

A 4-year apprenticeship leading to Engineering Fitter Level 3 –Electrical Pathway, including: Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering BTEC Diploma in advanced Manufacturing Engineering.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Learn how to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Be trained on how to assemble a range of control panels.

Learn how to inspect and test components.

Learn how to maintain control panels, machines and equipment.

Learn about the wiring of panels and how to diagnose and rectify faults.

Gain a good understanding of the sector and the products and services supplied by AF Switchgear.

Attend college and produce work of a high standard.

Production Managers / Team Leaders / Operations Manager

Hours of Work:

08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Friday

Apprentice Electrical Panel Builder 

Sales Office Administrator

We are looking for a Sales Office Administrator in the Sales Department.

Reporting to the Sales Director, the role will include, but is not exclusive to:

  • Responsibility for complying with the Q&E management system within their level of activity.
  • Log new enquiries as they arrive, either by post or via email.
  • Record details of new enquiries on to the estimating system.
  • Print all relevant documentation.
  • Create quote folder and place appropriate printed information into folder.
  • Act as general point of contact for the Sales/Estimating Office for enquirers that do not request a specific member of the team.
  • Take calls on behalf of colleagues who are either not at their desk or otherwise engaged.
  • Assist with updating the estimating system including amending the database when new supplier prices are received and or discount structure changes.
  • Prepare duplicate quotations already completed by an individual estimating engineer followed by the emailing process to the customers and the filing of copy quotations into the quotation folder.
  • Assist the remote sales team with their administrative tasks and ensure new information is communicated to them and all electronic file are up to date.

Sales Estimating Engineer

We are looking for a Sales Estimating Engineer in the Sales Department.

Reporting to the Sales Director, the role will include, but is not exclusive to:

  • Evaluation and preparation of sales tenders in conjunction with other members of the sales team, internal and external.
  • Liaison with potential new customers at enquiry stage.
  • Compliance with the companies engineering standards and procedures when preparing Estimates and tenders for the Company’s products.
  • Liaison with customers at the order stage to ensure compliance with the Company’s credit control procedures.
  • Preparation of contract folders ready for handover to engineering and attend handover meetings.
  • Continue liaison with customers at the post enquiry stage and post order stage as necessary to maintain continuity and goodwill.
  • Close liaison with Engineering department to ensure conformity with the agreed build specification for our products and any works to be undertaken on site.
  • Liaise with the engineering team providing support as required regarding any cost variations to the contracts.
  • Assessment of new supply products and techniques in conjunction with other sales and engineering staff.
  • Attend meetings as required and requested either internally or at customer offices or sites.
  • If skilled in CAD and as workload demands assist with the Creation of Sales General Arrangement Layout drawings and single line Power schematics using AutoCAD working from sketches produced by yourself or other members of the Sales team.

  • Following receipt of order for a project, Creation of Contract General Arrangement Layout drawings and Single line power schematics using AutoCAD working from our tenders and customer information.
  • Maintenance and upkeep of the CAD drawing blocks and templates including the creation of new drawings for modified and new products we may use in manufacture.
  • Attend meetings as required/requested.
  • Assist Sales department and clients with space planning exercises.

Site Commissioning Engineer

We are looking for a Commissioning Engineer.

Reporting to the Head of Commissioning, the role will include, but is not exclusive to:

  • Carry out commissioning, SAT and IST as required
  • Carry out on site training
  • Visit sites to carry out site / switchgear surveys.
  • To be on call to attend site as part of the emergency call out agreements.
  • Provide technical support both on site and in the works
  • Allocate tasks to operatives
  • Remain on the job in a productive or supporting role.
  • Give guidance and support the team
  • Assist the team to correctly interpret drawings.
  • Inform the Engineering office of any urgently required parts, critical shortages and any concerns regarding parts/build/people/equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness/tidiness in and around your working area.
  • Provide technical support, testing and training for all aspects of switchgear and control panels.

Commissioning Manager

We are looking for a Commissioning Manager.

Reporting to the Head of Commissioning the role will include, but is not exclusive to:

  •     Lead and manage data centre type projects (travel required for the role ~ to be discussed at interview).
  •     Lead and manage the commissioning process. Supervision of on-site maintenance projects
  •     Commissioning of Switchgear without compromising quality, health, safety or the environment.
  •     Efficiently manage projects to maximise the profits of the Company.
  •     Supervision of sub-contractors to ensure their tasks are approve and controlled as required.
  •     Review and manage sub-contractor works making sure they are working in line with  company requirements.
  •     Monitor   changes   to   identify   and   tackle   new    risk   management challenges.
  •     Eliminate defects, unsafe acts/conditions and pollution by targeting “Zero Harm”.
  •     Conforming to, and always complying to reasonable directions and regulations of the  Company.
  •     Management of all day to day on site commissioning operations.
  •     Be aware of the quality, health, safety and environmental (QHSE) matters related to the works in hand and communicate and promote QHSE compliance requirements.
  •    Carry out toolbox talks and task briefings as required.
  •    Reporting commissioning progress on all activities both internally and externally.
  •    Report any delays or issues that may arise from the commissioning process.
  •    Attending commissioning meetings and reporting on progress.      
  •    Complete RAMS and ensure they’re communicated, understood, acknowledged and followed.
  •    Ensure Permit to Work systems are implemented effectively and correctly.
  •    Responsible for compiling testing and commissioning documentation including verifying and signing off all results.
  •    Monitor the correct completion of site activities.
  •    Ensure the safety and welfare of site operatives and other people who may be affected by the works in hand.
  •    Ensure PPE is use correctly and is in good condition.
  •    Ensure work equipment is used correctly and is in good working order. Report near misses and accidents.
  •    Reduce avoidable site revisits.
  •    Help improve operatives knowledge and training.      
  •    Highlight and report areas of concern.
  •    Liaising with clients.
  •    Work at AFS headquarters in Sutton-in-Ashfield as and when required.

You will be required to undertake and supervise all aspects of work related to commissioning works undertaken by the Company in accordance with the Company’s documented safe system of work, including also:

  •    Completing records and certificates for handover to clients.
  •    Carrying out witness testing and provide associated documentation as required.
  •    Providing progress reports as necessary as to project status.
  •    To efficiently supervise and control site works i hand to maximise the profits of the Company without compromising quality, health, safety and environmental requirements.
  •    To report directly to the Head of Commissioning.
  •    At all times, ad in all respects, comply with the proper and reasonable directions of the Company.
  •    Request customer feedback.
  •    Ensure weekly reports are sent to management.
  • Hours:
  •     07:00 – 17:00 on site Monday to Friday with some weekends as required.     Hours as required to complete the work.
  • Essential qualifications:
  •     NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Discipline.     SSSTS.
  •     Experience in LV Switchgear.
  • The successful candidate must have:
  •     Full UK Driving Licence Valid Passport
