Day Shift & Night Shift – After Paint Assembler

AF Fabrications, part of the AF Switchgear group. 

Established in March 2008 as the new subsidiary to AF Switchgear. Handling the design and subcontract manufacture of all the enclosures used by AF Switchgear. 

The established in-house design team are supported on the shop floor by state-of-the-art CNC  Controlled Punch Machine & Powder Coating Paint Plant. 

JOB ROLE 

AF Fabrications are looking for reliable individuals to expand their team. There are positions available for day shift and night shift assemblers. Day shift hours are 08:00 to 16:30 Monday to Friday and night shift hours are 16:00 to 02:00 Monday to Thursday. 

Successful applicants will be trained in line with AF Fabrications processes and procedures before commencing on the 16:00 to 02:00 shift. During the training period, hours of work will be  08:00 – 16:30 Monday to Thursday and 08:00 – 16:00 Friday. 

Successful applicants will be also be required to undergo training in Quality, First Aid and as a  Fire Marshall. 

Key requirements of the role are:

  • Assembling of painted parts prior to despatch 
  • Adhere to the job pack information, including signing Job Pack forms

Give guidance and support to the team members and subcontractor

If successful you will be responsible for: 

  • Fabrications assembly including welding & sanding
  • Ensuring a quality product while adhering to standard manufacturing tolerances
  • Give Guidance and support to the Team members and subcontractor Canteen facilities onsite along with Free car parking and a clean environment.

Sales Estimating Engineer

AF Switchgear is one of the UK’s largest switchgear manufacturers and set the standard for LV Switchgear and Power Distribution.

JOB ROLE 

AF Switchgear is looking for a sales estimating engineer. Reporting to the Sales Manager,  the successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation and submission of quotations in accordance with customer requirements and based on the Company’s manufacturing portfolio. 

A background in the electrical engineering industry coupled with computer literacy and the ability to work in a busy office are just some of the qualities required by this demanding but rewarding position.

Technicians – Trainee Technicians

Job Title:

Technician ~ Production

Purpose of the job:

To assist in testing and commissioning of switchgear and control panels.  To provide technical assistance as part of call out cover.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • To carry out commissioning, SAT and IST as required
  • To carry out on site training
  • To visit sites to carry out site / switchgear surveys
  • To be on call for one week in every four to attend site as part of the emergency call out agreements.
  • To provide technical support both on site and in the works
  • To allocate tasks to operatives
  • To remain on the job in a productive or supporting role
  • To give guidance and support to the Team
  • To assist the Team to correctly interpret drawings
  • To discuss opportunities to increase productivity with the Operations Manager / Team Leaders
  • To inform the Operations Manager / Team Leaders of any urgently required parts
  • To inform the Operations Manager / Team Leaders of any critical shortages
  • To inform the Operations Manager / Team Leaders of any concerns regarding parts/build/people/equipment
  • To monitor and maintain cleanliness and tidiness in and around your working area.
  • To provide technical support, testing and training for all aspect of switchgear and control panels.
  • Responsibility for complying with and implementing the Business management system within their area of activity.

Working hours:

Include Total hours 37.5 hours per week

Days (flexible start and finish time)

Monday to Thursday 07:30-08.30 start & 16.00-17.00 finish

Friday 07.30-08.30 start & 11:45-12.45 finish

Stores Picker / General Assistant

We are looking for reliable Stores personnel to join our expanding Production Team.  The successful candidates will be required to carry out duties including but not exclusive to:

  • Ensure parts requested from the Assembly build lanes are picked and delivered in a timely manner and that the items are allocated to the correct contract, in accordance with ISO9001 operating procedures
  • Issuing contract, stock and other required materials to the production teams as directed to ensure build schedules are maintained in a timely manner
  • Receive goods inwards from suppliers and sub-contractors and inspecting and handling these in accordance with Company procedures stated within the ISO9001 Quality System
  • Ensuring tools and measuring equipment are in calibration when issuing to requests
  • Ensure vehicles are maintained in line with current procedures and any defects found recorded and arrangements made to rectify
  • Carry out duties as defined by Team Leader

The ability to use your initiative and be flexible to the demands of workload, as well as being able to work as part of a team, and a full driving licence, are key requirements for this position.

FLT Licence – Counterbalance.

Hours:  37.5 hrs per week (to be discussed)
