AF Sales Team - April 2016

A F Switchgear - Facility 4

Facility 4

We recently completed the purchase of another factory which will be known as F4.

The 25,000 sqft facility along with 2 acres of land is directly next door to F3.

Our initial plan is to occupy the rear bay of the factory to house our new paint plant while NEAT Vehicles Ltd remain in the rest of the building as our tenant.

During the coming months we will be carrying out internal building revisions to suit our requirements and the boundary fence will be altered so that F3 and F4 will effectively be on the same site.

Breast Cancer Awareness

October saw a vision of pink – not only in Central Services Department but also in other departments. Here are some of the staff that supported the 'Breast Cancer Awareness – Wear Something Pink Day'. As well as glowing pink all day, champagne was raffled, pink cakes and pink super heroes were sold raising a total of £255.

During 'Movember' over 40 of the AF Switchgear team grew moustaches to raise awareness and raise money for the worldwide campaign that focuses on men's health issues and particularly testicular and prostate cancer. Last year £1200 was raised by the efforts of the team efforts. The company has promised to contribute to the final total, in recognition of their participation.

Roc D'Azur mountain bike race

Once again, a team from AF Switchgear along with a group of clients took part in The Roc D'Azur mountain bike race in the Maritime Alps in October. Many of the group were raising money for charity which was split between Macmillan Cancer Support and The British Heart Foundation.

Life Saving Defibrillator Installed

In 2012 the company purchased equipment that really does save lives. The installation of a defibrillator ensures that anyone undergoing a cardiac arrest can be effectively treated quickly, thereby improving their chances of survival.

A defibrillator is a life-saving machine that gives the heart an electric shock in the event of a cardiac arrest. For every minute of fibrillation, the chances of survival decrease by 14 percent. Research shows that applying a controlled shock a minute after collapse provides the best possible chance of survival.

All our first aiders are trained in its use although the model purchased is fully automated and can be used by a novice. Although they are extensively found in public areas the units are not as widespread as you think. Ian Foster witnessed a man having a cardiac arrest on a beach, whilst on holiday in Abersoch this year.
Although first aiders and lifeguards did all they could, they were unable to save the man without a defibrillator.

As a result of this, Ian will be taking part in a Wales-Ireland charity sailing event in 2013, to purchase a unit for the local lifeguards.
