Quantity Surveyor

We are currently looking to recruit a QS into the business: -

A self-motivated and ambitious team player, who has a broad range of commercial, financial and IT skills spanning the main contract and sub-contract levels with a strong background in General Building and Building Engineering Services (LV/MV Electrical Services).

Applications are invited from individuals with relevant qualifications and experience (preferably in the Construction and Electrical arena). This is a new position reporting into the Financial Director. Location will be a mix of Head office/site based and may require spending periods of time away from home (Mainly UK but some overseas travel).

Apprenticeships and Training

AF Switchgear is able to offer a modern technical apprenticeship leading to an NVQ level 3 qualification. The course is based over four years on a day-release system ensuring a balanced academic and on-the-job training.

The importance of apprentices, is to ensure the future viability of the company, is wholly recognised. Accounting for around 15% of the works staff, once qualified apprentices develop into other strategic roles within the company. Sales and engineering have benefited from this ongoing development, with these individuals accounting for 25% of staff in these areas.

The apprenticeship scheme has shown that it not only benefits the company, with staff retention levels as high as 95% over the past 15 years, but has also demonstrates that through the right company support and hard work these individuals can realise their full potential and fulfil their personal development.

Apprenticeships start in September of the academic year.
