Machine / Fabrication Setter Operator

We are currently looking to recruit the following position: -

MACHINE / FABRICATION SETTER OPERATOR

Applications are invited to work in a busy department supplying copper ‘kits’ to the assembly line. The successful applicant will be expected to programme, set and run the copper fabrication punch and bending machines, together with the CNC saw and drill machine. All training will be given. If the successful candidate does not have experience in machining, they will be trained in all areas initially in a trainee position. Flexible working, including overtime as required will be essential.

Apprenticeships and Training

AF Switchgear is able to offer a modern technical apprenticeship leading to an NVQ level 3 qualification. The course is based over four years on a day-release system ensuring a balanced academic and on-the-job training.

The importance of apprentices, is to ensure the future viability of the company, is wholly recognised. Accounting for around 15% of the works staff, once qualified apprentices develop into other strategic roles within the company. Sales and engineering have benefited from this ongoing development, with these individuals accounting for 25% of staff in these areas.

The apprenticeship scheme has shown that it not only benefits the company, with staff retention levels as high as 95% over the past 15 years, but has also demonstrates that through the right company support and hard work these individuals can realise their full potential and fulfil their personal development.

Apprenticeships start in September of the academic year.
