AF Switchgear Ltd are currently looking for experienced Electrical Panel Builders and Site based operatives who have previously completed a recognised apprenticeship in an Electrical discipline.
Main duties are to carry out the build and assembly of LV switchgear and control systems. Working under instruction, tasks may include but not limited to the assembly of premanufactured copper work, wiring, testing, installation, commissioning & maintenance of our product.
Due to continued expansion AF Switchgear Ltd are seeking to recruit works fabricator to our team.
Experience in this field is preferred however training can be provided. Responsible to the Fabrication Supervisor and the Lead Fabricator for fabrication assembly, including welding and sanding ensuring a quality product to the standard manufacture tolerances.

CAD Draughtsperson / Project Engineer vacancy - PREEDCRETE (in the Billingshurst area)
Preedcrete Ltd is seeking an experienced CAD Draughtsperson / Project Engineer to join a growing team based within the Billingshurst area, in supplying electrical busbar systems to the UK market and abroad.
The suitable applicant should be able to get off to a brisk and successful start, whilst being able to meet a high standard of work in an informal but dynamic environment.
The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of building services and electrical systems, and be proficient in AutoCAD.
Working with the Design Manager, the successful candidate will be involved in initial consultations with clients and other equipment manufactures to develop detailed layout drawings for the company’s products, seeing projects through the design and approval process to manufacture and site installation.
The work is varied, interesting and often fast paced, requiring both a high level of accuracy and good communication skills.
- Conversion of customer’s needs into route drawings.
- Preparation and checking of bills of materials for issue to the factory.
- Coordinating with customers, colleagues, factory staff and installation contractors.
- Some limited site-based work, taking measurements & conversion into drawings.
- Maintaining up-to-date records of work on projects.
- Follow the company QA procedures
- Ability to work to deadlines
- Articulate & numerate
- A working knowledge of electrical and building systems.
- Must be able to read and fully understand engineering drawings.
- Must be fully IT literate. (Excel, Word, Adobe, Outlook)
- Able to use AutoCAD (2016).
- Knowledge of other CAD/Modelling software an advantage.
- Able to work both as part of a team and on own initiative.
- Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt to changing priorities and circumstances on a daily basis.
Terms & Conditions
We offer a salary of “to suit experience” per annum to be paid in 12 monthly payments on the 28th day of each month. 8:30 am to 17:00 pm Monday to Thursday and 8:30 am to 16:30 pm on Friday with one hour for lunch. 5 weeks (25 working days) on a pro-rata basis and 25 days in future years. Up to one week’s holiday is to be taken at Christmas to coincide with the office shutdown.

Apprenticeships and Training
AF Switchgear is able to offer a modern technical apprenticeship leading to an NVQ level 3 qualification. The course is based over four years on a day-release system ensuring a balanced academic and on-the-job training.
The importance of apprentices, is to ensure the future viability of the company, is wholly recognised. Accounting for around 15% of the works staff, once qualified apprentices develop into other strategic roles within the company. Sales and engineering have benefited from this ongoing development, with these individuals accounting for 25% of staff in these areas.
The apprenticeship scheme has shown that it not only benefits the company, with staff retention levels as high as 95% over the past 15 years, but has also demonstrates that through the right company support and hard work these individuals can realise their full potential and fulfil their personal development.
Apprenticeships start in September of the academic year.
